Yeah definitely prefer rock/alt/grunge as well. Some indie music I find fairly repetitive and not very innovative (at least over the last 5 years or so) with only a few good bands sticking out.
Also really have begun to like a lot of electornica/break beats/house. Basically anything with some decent funk roots.
That said I still enjoy classical music and really like good jazz (like Miles Davis, etc).

It really depends on the mood you're trying to maintain.

I'll listen to just about anything if I like it. I prefer some genres over others, but I don't limit myself to one language/genre.

I usually listen to rap when I'm in very good mood, but when I feel depressed I like to listed to sad songs, and I rarely listen rap. I don't really chose between the music styles, if it sounds good and it has a message for me I listen it, else I don't care about it.
